Founded in 1996, WestJet Airlines Ltd. is a Canadian airline that offers
affordable air travel options as an alternative to the major airlines in the
country.
WestJet serves over 100 destinations in Canada, the United States, Europe,
Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, providing both scheduled and charter
flights. With a daily operation of more than 700 flights and carrying over
60,000 passengers, WestJet is currently the second-largest air carrier in
Canada, following Air Canada.
The airline has two subsidiaries, namely WestJet Encore, which operates the
Bombardier Q400, and WestJet Link, which operates the Saab 340B. The
headquarters of WestJet is located next to the Calgary International Airport.
