Aircraft Inspector
Aircraft Inspectors working at major airports have the responsibility to ensure
the efficient and cost-effective assessment of the airworthiness of aircraft
maintenance work. Their assigned tasks include:
- Conducting inspections of aircraft, encompassing power plants, materials,
parts, and subassemblies. It's important to note that these inspections do not
cover the specific materials and subassemblies typically inspected by
technicians as part of their own work.
- Reviewing the aircraft and engine logbooks during all checks and documenting
pilot reports and deferred maintenance items on the appropriate work cards.
- Performing necessary inspection functions during all checks, such as airframe
and engine inspections as specified on routine work cards. They also carry out
buy back inspections on major items or non-routine work elements.
- Aircraft Inspectors must possess a comprehensive understanding of inspection
methods, techniques, and equipment relevant to their area of responsibility.
This expertise enables them to accurately determine the airworthiness and
quality of an article undergoing maintenance, repair, or alteration.
- Monitoring all aircraft inspection records and forms used during aircraft
checks to ensure the correct and complete recording of all relevant information.
Aircraft Inspectors play a critical role in upholding safety and compliance
standards in aircraft maintenance. Their thorough inspections and adherence to
established protocols contribute to maintaining the airworthiness of aircraft
operating at major airports.
