Aviation Security Officer
As an Aviation Security Officer (ASO) in the United States, your role will
involve a range of duties aimed at ensuring the safety and security of aviation
within major airports.
Being an ASO requires dedication, responsibility, and a commitment to
maintaining safety and security at the airports.
To fulfill these responsibilities, ASOs are expected to perform the following
tasks:
- Conduct passenger and carry-on baggage screening
- Perform screening of checked-in baggage
- Conduct screening of airport workers
- Carry out airport and aircraft searches
- Perform airside driving and escorts
- Carry out any other tasks as required
The work of Aviation Security Officers is subject to variability based on
factors such as flight schedules, flight delays, weather conditions, and
passenger volume. Shift work and non-standard shifts are common, which may
include working on weekends, holidays, and during nighttime hours.
